Our Hotel Services Manager Jade Smith from Candlewood House Care Home, North London recently took part in a ‘Chef 2 Chef’ interview with the Senior Development & Application Chef of Kerrymaid,  Richard Troman. Kerrymaid are a dairy products company who have 30 years’ of experience in crafting an excellent range of dairy products for chefs to use in their own kitchens.

In her role of Hotel Services Manager, Jade coaches, supports and leads the catering team at Candlewood House. Prior to progressing into this role Jade worked as a Head Chef for TLC Care at our Camberley Manor Home.

Jade was crowned the 2022 South East Chef of the Year at the Great British Care Awards and the National Association of Care Catering Awards. Jade has progressed to the National finals of The Great British Care Awards which is an outstanding achievement. Following this Kerrymaid approached Jade and asked to interview her.   The day involved Richard talking to Jade about the everyday operations and leadership of a catering team within a care home environment. Topics discussed included the processes involved to cater to multiple requirements including dietary, and medical needs and the importance of nutrition and hydration

The interview was filmed and will form part of a series for Kerrymaid’s social media campaigns, where they have selected highly recognised Chefs from areas of the hospitality industry, Jade being the only one from the care sector.

Richard Troman commented “I thoroughly enjoyed my day at Candlewood House, it was incredibly insightful and very interesting speaking with Jade to learn about care catering. I found it very gratifying to meet so many passionate individuals and it is clear the that the team is looking after all their residents and providing outstanding care in this beautiful care home.”

Prior to being the Candlewood House Hotel Service Manager, I was Head Chef at our TLC Care sister home Camberley Manor. One of my biggest passions is talking about how my role can have an impact on our residents each day. It was great and I felt honoured to have been chosen to be involved with the Chef 2 Chef series at Kerrymaid”
