At TLC Care, we are committed to continually improving care home dining experience for every aspect of our residents’ experience, and that includes the meals we serve every day.
Recently, our chefs came together in Reading with Brakes Food for a collaborative session focused on enhancing the quality, sustainability, and enjoyment of resident dining. The event provided an opportunity for our culinary teams to exchange ideas, learn from industry experts, and explore new approaches to creating nutritious and delicious meals.
A key focus of the session was sustainability. As the hospitality and care sectors continue to look for ways to reduce their environmental impact, our chefs explored practical methods of making food preparation and sourcing more sustainable while maintaining the high standards our residents expect. Discussions covered ingredient selection, reducing food waste, and creating menus that balance environmental responsibility with flavour and nutrition.

Alongside sustainability, the team also worked on refining culinary techniques and exploring new flavour combinations. The goal was simple: to ensure that every meal served across our homes delivers both comfort and enjoyment. We understand that food is about much more than nutrition. It plays an important role in wellbeing, social connection, and quality of life.
Events like this also provide valuable opportunities for professional development. By collaborating with partners such as Brakes Food, our chefs can stay up to date with industry trends, share best practices, and continue developing their skills. This ongoing learning helps us provide residents with varied, high-quality menus that cater to different tastes, preferences, and dietary requirements.
At TLC Care, we believe that great care home dining experience contribute to great care. By investing in our teams and embracing innovative approaches to food and sustainability, we can continue delivering meals that residents look forward to each day.
We would like to thank Brakes Food for hosting the session and supporting our shared commitment to improve care home dining experience.
