Cooperscroft charity walk raises over £1,600 for Brain Tumour Research

TLC Care’s Cooperscroft Care Home is proud to share the success of its charitable initiative, with support from their neighbouring Cuffley Manor Care Home, which has raised over £1,600 for Brain Tumour Research, with more donations still coming in.
Inspired by two team members who are currently affected by brain tumours, the home organised a 3km charity walk that brought together residents, families, team members and the wider community in an uplifting show of support.

The route was carefully planned through Potters Bar, taking walkers through local landmarks and the beautiful sensory gardens of Parkfield Open Space. Mandy Cockram, Operations Director at TLC Care, led the way, pausing at various points to share moments of reflection. Walkers were dressed in TLC Care t-shirts and the bright pink of Brain Tumour Research, showing unity and compassion throughout the event.

Fresh fruit salads and juices provided by the homes’ kitchen teams kept everyone energised along the way.
Highlights of the fundraising efforts include:
• £340 raised through local councillors and residents at Seabrook Retirement Home, thanks to our community connections
• £648 raised by the grandson of a volunteer from the local 60+ Lunch Club
• Generous support from team members, local businesses and community members

Dawn Cawley, Business Development Manager at Cooperscroft, who organised the initiative, said: “This cause is very close to our hearts. With two of our team personally affected by brain tumours, we wanted to do something meaningful. The community’s generosity has been incredible.”
Lorna Russell, Managing Director of TLC Care, said: “I am very proud of our Cooperscroft community for supporting and championing such a worthwhile cause. With over £1,600 raised so far, we are proud to support the work of Brain Tumour
Research and extend sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the walk’s success.”
