Pauline, resident of Cuffley Manor, venturing out with loved ones to enjoy some sunshine.

The TLC Care group have been working at each stage of the pandemic to ensure the continual safety and well-being of the team and residents. With the arrival of relaxed measures in a post-lockdown environment, the TLC family are elated to be able to share our first resident’s venture out into the community.

Pauline and Brian, residents at Cuffley Manor Care Home, were the first of the TLC family to venture out into the community as the nationwide lockdown measures begun to ease (see video below). TLC Care have taken thorough measures throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, embracing technology, and making appropriate modifications to each of our 8 care homes. The steps taken have supported the physical and emotional wellbeing of our teams and residents, including a proactive approach to offering the vaccine.

Mark Arrowsmith, Head of Wellbeing, noted: “The team at Cuffley Manor Care Home have worked together to provide outstanding care and support during the pandemic, facilitating a plethora of amazing and innovative events during lockdown to ensure residents have kept in touch with loved ones. It has been a long-awaited return of the easing of restrictions, and it is truly wonderful to see residents and their loved ones being able to enjoy quality time together again. Residents have shared that they are elated to have the option to go outdoors once again and enjoy lunch and afternoon teas with their loved ones.”

The health and safety of the residents, their loved ones and our TLC team continues to be our highest priority, which is why we have implemented a cautious process before each visit out. Visits and trips out at any of our TLC homes are pre-arranged to allow adequate preparation time and lateral flow tests to be done beforehand – both for the resident and their friend or family member. Each TLC Care Home works with the friends and families of the residents to organise the safest method of transport, to ensure that they can enjoy quality time together outdoors, in a safe manner.

Michael Burke, Managing Director at TLC Care, commented: “At TLC Care, the safety and holistic wellbeing of our teams and residents is our priority. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been a testing time for all as we sadly shifted from regular ventures outdoors and unhindered visits. But the hard work and dedication to abiding by Government guidelines and supporting the TLC advice on processes has pushed TLC ahead of the curve and brought us to the light at the end of the tunnel. Watching Pauline and Brian exit the home for a visit out with loved ones is the beacon of hope and reassurance that we all need. Well done to the TLC team for your unwavering efforts and to team Cuffley Manor for supporting the residents in our care to make these lasting memories”.

Kay Mitchell, Home Manager commented: “The joy of once again going outdoors with relatives is plain to see. To be able to sit in our beautiful local parks and gardens or visit a beach with loved ones, is priceless and lifts everyone’s spirits.”

Cuffley Manor Potters bar positivity following the Covid 19 Vaccine Rollout
Watch The Video Here

Mark Arrowsmith, 30, head of wellbeing at Cuffley Manor in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. Shared his story of the highs and lows of working in a care home throughout the pandemic.

In the video Mark describes a beautiful tribute to Howard, 105, a resident with an amazing story whom we celebrated in the home.

The Covid-19 vaccine rollout was issued to care homes across England and has created feelings of positivity for residents and staff alike, after many “shadowy” days, a colleague said.

Every eligible care home resident in England has had at least one Covid vaccine, or been offered it, the NHS announced on Monday.

There is now a “more positive feeling” and the notion that “the first step towards residents seeing their loved ones in person again, has been taken” said one resident.

Cuffley Manor was broadcasting live to the nation this week as our very own resident Brian shared his views on staying positive during the Covid–19 pandemic with listeners of the Capital FM Breakfast Show.

Roman Kemp held the interview with Brian and a young girl to get an insight of how people of two different generations are coping and remaining positive through lockdown.

Brian had the producers and the listeners of Capital FM in fits of laughter with his responses to their questions and also listening writing in to the show to ask Brian questions.

One of the listeners described Brian as “a cool grandpa!” Brian was thrilled to be part of the show and the producers described him as “ a natural”.
